Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry for such a delay in updating the blog!  We have been very busy in the Thekkekandam household.  Luckily I was doing an anesthesia rotation in December and then had two weeks off over christmas so I was able to see Amy and Bobby quite a bit more than usual.  That was wonderful.
During that time we've had thanksgiving, Amy's birthday, Amy's baptism, ski vacation in Colorado and christmas (posts with pictures to follow).  Amy also underwent general anesthesia to open up her blocked tear duct on the right which went really well.  We have finally stopped her eye drops and she has not had any gunk build up like before.  She also went for her first haircut during my winter break.

Here are some photos from thanksgiving.  We had a wonderful time at both my mom's and dad's houses (however forgot to take photos at dad's house).
Amy is chomping down on her thanksgiving meal which included butternut squash, sweet potato casserole (without nuts), corn casserole, green bean casserole and ham.  She was such a little piggy.Amy's stomach after chomping down on her meal. She was so full and happy with a big old belly.

Granny Gail and Amy.

Uncle Mitch and Amy.  We're going to miss you when you go to the marine corp.
Grandpa Mike and Amy.  Can you tell we've fed them both?

Walking

Amy started walking recently so we decided we would take a video of her and her clumsy walking skills.  She even has a nice spin move going...  also if you pay attention at the end (with the volume up), she leaves you with a nice surprise.

Halloween

Amy was an anesthesiologist for halloween this year.  She had a stethoscope (almost as long as her), a pager and a scrub hat for the OR.
Uh oh, I just got paged.  Where's a phone for me to call them back.
Her stethoscope makes heart sounds, but she obviously doesn't have the ear pieces in her ears.
Way too excited to receive pages.  Believe me, that gets old quickly.
She then started banging the pager on the coffee table, she learns fast.
Hayride at the daycare.  She loved this.

Not quite sure but there is a pretend syringe involved.
Swinging the stethoscope
Super happy little anesthesiologist.

The Spaghetti Incident

Amy loves spaghetti, especially if she can feed herself.  This inevitably ends up in a huge mess we have to clean up.  These are a few photos from a spaghetti dinner.

The first photo is pre-spaghetti in hair.

And the dirty hands went through her hair.  Wonderful.
She thinks everyone should try her new hairdo.  Stylish.

Nifty at Fifty

Happy birthday mom and aunty Lyn!  The twins turned 50 a little over a month ago and I apologize for not posting these photos sooner.  We celebrated with mom the weekend before their actual birthday and then later in the week when aunty Lyn was able to join us in NC.
You've got to love the tomatoes in the background!
Very nice photo of mom, too bad Amy didn't look at the camera.
Kisses from uncle Riaan are always welcome.
Mmmm, necklace.
Mom and Riaan.
Mom and Pierre.
Mom and Mitch.
Mom and Mike.  Awww.
The family.
Apparently Amy was not in the mood for more photos.  Don't blame the poor girl.
Couldn't resist posting this photo of them blowing out their candles...

Daddy's little girl...

Amy's hair is finally getting thick enough so that barrettes will stay put.  I just love this picture of my family!

Unfortunately Amy currently has a cold and Bobby just got over one.  Hopefully she'll stay clear of the ear infections this time around.  Blogging might be a little less active next month since I will be in the medical intensive care unit, i.e. many long hours at the hospital.  However, I will try my best to keep you guys informed of our family happenings.

Work in Progress

Our backyard is a desert wasteland right now but Bobby rented a slitseeder this weekend to plant some grass seed. Hopefully soon we'll be able to show you pictures of lush green grass.

You can see a some of our new patio in this picture. The trees in the background are in a protection area so there won't be any other buildings behind us.

Our barren yard facing the house.
Bobby doing his thing with the seeder.  It was very hot and our yard was covered with large rocks he had to pick up and throw out the way.
Trying not to seed our patio.
Amy was watching her daddy work outside.  She is on her tippy toes in this picture trying to get a good view of daddy.
Still watching daddy, but you can see her little teeth on the bottom coming in.  She is growing up way too fast.

Catching Up.

Amy had her 9 month check up today at the doctor.  She currently weighs 15lbs 8oz and is 26.5 inches long.  This puts her at 5th % for weight and 15th % for length.  This is very exciting since she was 5th % for both measurements at her 6 month appointment.  We knew she was growing well because her feet are now dangling off the edge of most things whereas before they barely reached the edge.

Happy Growing

Zoo

I'm officially on vacation this week so Bobby, Amy and I packed up and drove to the NC Zoo in Asheboro yesterday.  The weather was gorgeous, although some would argue a little too humid.  We saw most of the animals (the grizzlies and giraffes didn't want to come out and play).  Amy LOVED watching the chimpanzees run around and chase each other.  Other than that, she really wasn't too bothered with the rest of the animals.

Chilling in the BOB jogger outside the gorillas.  We were watching them eat.
After lunch we switched from the stroller to the Baby Bjorn.  Amy loved this form of transportation but my back was only OK with it.
Amy the zookeeper.  It took her a while to figure out you're not supposed to put your hand through the head hole.
Amy the zookeeper for real this time.
Mr. Gorilla being weird.
The polar bear wasn't very exciting.
Waiting for the shuttle to take us from the North America parking lot to the Africa parking lot where we parked.

Amy's first time on a bus.  She was excited to be going somewhere without being strapped into something.

Wolfpack Football

NC State finally won a football game, even though it was only against William and Mary.  Amy was there to soak it all in.  She was very good and didn't cry despite the heat or the length of the game.
She has a little stuffed Mr. Wuf that plays the NC State fight song and during the game she would try to find the location of the band every time she heard the fight song.

Chilling in her shades in the baby bjorn, she wants to be just like mom.  We had just arrived to the tailgate.
With Aunty Stef and aunty Beth at the tailgate.
Sweet Amy giving aunty Beth a slobbery kiss.
Sweaty baby at the tailgate.
In the stands.  Amy wasn't too concerned about the football but was well-behaved nonetheless.

Family portrait towards the end of the night.
Amy finally fell asleep with Mr. Wuf at the beginning of the 4th quarter.
